Samsung Galaxy Precedent battery use

Here's the actual size weight and battery life for this phone. I went ahead and actually measured these myself using a ruler and weighing scale.

Actual Size

Using a Westcott ruler, I found the phone measures 4 3/8 x 2 1/4 inches. The display area of the screen measure slightly less than 3 1/4 inches diagonally, confirming it's description as a 3.2 inch touchscreen phone.

Weight

On a WeighMax postal scale, the phone measured out at 3 lbs 9 oz. with the battery inserted.

Battery Life

The Precedent's battery life is given by Straight Talk as 6 hours of talk time and 9 days of standby. This may or may not be true, but you're probably not going to find out if you actually use it as a smartphone. By the time I put myself to bed, the phone is down to about 60% charged, and I'm a fairly light user of the phone.

The usual caveats apply. If you turn off Bluetooth, the WiFi network and the GPS you will probably extend your battery life a bit. Mainly it's the data intensive tasks that will eat up your battery.

Battery Use

You can actually find out what's been using the battery by going to:

Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Battery use

to find out what has been using the battery. For example, I haven't used my phone much today, and you can see in the screenshot above that battery use has been:

Cell standby 41%

Phone idle 35% (I'm not sure what the difference is between the two)

Wi-Fi 11%

Voice calls 10%

Display 6%

Unsupported battery
by: Anonymous

I just bought a Galaxy Precedent and am now getting a message saying "Unable to. Charge unsupported battery". No idea why. Do they sell replacement batteries and around how much are they?
