Camera error "insufficient memory"

by eryq
(calif)

I have had this phone for no more than 2 weeks. I downloaded 1 ringtone and 1 wallpaper. I took 2 photos which i have deleted. I tried to take a picture last night and the camera won't turn on due to "insufficient memory".

I deleted what I could, file and browser wise, in case it helped. Still getting that error message. I went through all of the options I could find on the phone and via the net to review my memory situation in multiple places and the data shows that there shouldn't be any issues. Can you offer any advice? Thanks!

Hi eryq,

It is puzzling. Don't know if you need to replace your phone. Can you tell me what the phone shows when you go to Menu -> Settings -> Memory -> Phone Common?

For example, on my test phone it says:
Total: 9.8 MB
In Use: 3.3 MB
Free: 6.5 MB

Then it breaks down the stuff in our control:

Images: 583 KB
Sounds: 128 KB
Multi msg: 2 KB
Java: 520 KB

What does your phone show?

Regards,

Thank you for your advice. My tracfone worked fine when I turned it off and then turned it on to take pictures with the camera.

I know what to do!

What you have to do is take off the back cover, remove the battery and then remove your SIM card, then just reinsert the SIM card making sure it's properly inserted, putting the battery back in and replace the back cover. It should work fine, I had the same problem and doing the above worked fine for me.
