There are no early termination fees with AT&T GoPhones as there are no contracts. Now you might think this is obvious, but you wouldn’t know from looking at the selection of prepaid phones on AT&T's site.
Below each phone they had a prominent link to find out about these so-called ETF's. Now it may have been some bright young newbie’s ideas that the link will remind people that there are no such fees with GoPhones, but to my eyes, it actually introduces a feeling of doubt.
Now if are willing to sign a two year contract to take advantage of the discounts on new high-end phones, then you may be interested in knowing what their early termination fees are. Basically you can return your phone within 30 days. After that what you pay depends on whether you have a regular phone or a smart phone (or netbook).
For contracts started after June 2010, you have to pay $350 minus $10 for every month of service completed. So, for example, after six months, you would pay $350 - $60, for a total of $290.
For contracts started after June 2010, you have to pay $150 minus $4 for every month of service completed. So, again, after six months, you would pay $150 - $24 for a total of $126.
