How to receive calls while roaming

by Burt
(Longmont, CO)

I have instructions on how to receive calls on while roaming.

They say before leaving your local area you have to put in a code such as for A *18+send+end or for B *350+send+end then turn your phone off for 30 min.

It says "To locate your carrier band, look at your tracfone on the bottom center of the screen." It will show A or B.

My LG 420g does not show an A or a B.

Question is: How do I tell which code to use if none are showing?

--------------
Hi Burt,

I'm sorry, but my LG 420g also doesn't show this. Are these instructions you received from Tracfone support? My understanding was that there are no roaming issues with these phones as they use Tracfone's digital network.

I checked the zip code for Longmont, CO and saw that GSM handsets like the LG 420g were offered by Tracfone in that area. Is there a particular area where they said you will have to use these instructions?

Earlier handsets used to have information about what network was being used, but those were in the days where there were roaming charges (one minute of airtime used to cost two minutes).

Once again, sorry I can't be of more help.

Regards,

tracfone "roaming"
by: burt

Dear S.B.,
No "secret codes" needed when roaming with the tracfone LG 420g. Was probably very, very old info.
I just made a trip from Longmont,CO to the Provo,UT area and could make and recieve calls almost anywhere on I-80 across Wyo.
Just wanted to update the information.

That probably explains it.

No problem. That probably explains it. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

A or B not on screen

Dear Mr. Borah,
I didn't expect such a quick response. Thank you. I found the info about receiving calls while roaming on an internet web site, not from Tracfone, and do not know how old the information is.

It may be that in the "old" days you had to put in a code to receive calls but now you don't have to. I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm in a roaming situation to find out.

Thanks again for your quick answer,
Burt
