Want to transfer pictures from LG420g to my laptop using a Bluetooth adapter.

(Rhode Island)

I have taken several pictures, but I can't figure out how to send them to my laptop. Does anyone have any information on how to do it? Has anyone been successful? Hope to hear from someone

Hi Richard,

You can transfer your pictures to PC via Bluetooth. If your laptop or PC doesn't have Bluetooth built-in, you'll have to get a Bluetooth adapter. After installing the the adapter, you have to pair the PC with your phone similar to how you would have to do it with a headset.

The steps are:

1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone:
To pair it with your PC, take your LG 420g and go to Settings --> Connection --> Bluetooth and set it to "On".

2. Make the phone visible to your PC:
Again go to Settings --> Connection --> Bluetooth --> Settings --> My Visibility and set it to Visible.

3. Go to your PC's bluetooth settings and add the LG 420g.
With my adapter on my Windows laptop, I have to choose "Add a Device". The LG 420g appears as an option. When I click on it, I get a passcode which I have to enter into the phone. On the phone a prompt appears to add the passcode. Once you add the passcode the phone it will take a few moments to add the device after which you should get a prompt that the "Device is now ready". At this point you should be able to exchange data with the phone.

4. Transfer the photos to PC.
Now on your LG 420g you can go to My Folder --> Pictures and select a picture. Then select Options --> Send --> Bluetooth and select the paired device (your PC). The file should then get transferred to your Bluetooth Exchange folder (your PC may first ask for permission to grant the transfer request).

5. View photos on PC
You should now be able to go to your Bluetooth exchange folder and view the file.

Hope this helps.

disconnect problem
by: Anonymous

same problem as previous person, says disconnected, can't connect, I did enter the blue tooth code, computer recognizes the phone, the phone says it is there, do I want to connect, say yes and it just keeps failing. I guess I won't use the camera:(tried setting up email but wasted ten minutes just trying to do that, then realized I needed another phone with internet access to set up code, don't have that so can't send photos via email, far too time consuming even if I had another phone anyway.)

If bluetooth doesn't work, try emailing the pic!
by: Anonymous

I just had a couple important pictures I wanted on my computer, but didn't have bluetooth on my laptop. I realized I could navigate to the picture, go to "send"--> send to message, then just put in an email address instead of a phone number!

LG 420 Picture Transfer
by: Geno

My thanks to SB. I picked up a Trendnet TBW-106UB and after loading the software I was able to make the connetion between PC and phone fairly easy. The BlueTooth software that came with the adapter had an option to transfer files. Clicking on that brought up a window with all available folders. Merely clicked on Pictures folder then dragged pictures to a folder I created on Desktop. This the only site where I got any useful info.
Thanks again, Geno

Trendnet TBW-105UB
by: sb (admin)

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words. I think most should work, and people have reported success with even the cheap $3 adapters. I use an older Trendnet TBW-105UB which has worked well for me. Even though it's somewhat old, it still support Bluetooth 2.0. Its only drawback is that it's somewhat big. Later versions are smaller.

Regards.

Which USB Bluetooth to use with Windows XP
by: Anonymous

SB could you please let us know which PC Bluetooth usb device you are using for your Tracfone to communicate with the computer to upload pictures. I went to the page you suggested about bluetooth usb devices and I really can't choose which one since some come with software and some don't. So if you could let us know which Adaptor you using would be great. I'm using Windows XP. Thank you for a great web site it is very informative.

LG420 picture transfer to PC
by: Louis

Commenting further on your response to Richard. My problem is getting my computer to add a device. I have a desktop Dell, five years old. When I tried to execute "Add a Device" there was no reference to LG420, or any other cell phone in the primary list of devices. I called in a secondary list, and that too had no cell phones of any kind. I've plugged in the Bluetooth adapter and now seeking some solution.
I have been able to transmit pictures to a kiosk, and to another cell phone, but not to an email address. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

transfer pictures from LG420G to my desktop
by: Bob Mc/ NC

Dear S.B. (I tried to find your name and this is all I saw)
First let me say that after several days of searching the net, your's was the ONLY advice I could find concerning pairing of the LG420g with my computer. THANK YOU !!!!!!
I followed your directions to a "T" and everything went as you said it would except my Acer X1200/Vista Home Premium doesn't answer back to the phone when a file is sent.
It goes to waiting for a response from PC to displaying a passcode/ I click yes/ it "waits for a reply" and then states"Failed to send to PC".
Each time I try it's the same but the computer generated code changes.
Any ideas on what is going on?
Thanks for any advice you may be able to provide and THANKS for your article!!
Kindest regards,
Bob McAuliffe /
