History with . . .

This was the first of a handful of prepaid cell phone companies I have used. Others are Tracfone, Straight Talk, and U.S. Cellular.

Alltel's coverage in my rural area was ok and improved once they were purchased by Verizon. (However then they were discontinued later, but you could still use your phone with Verizon as long as you kept it up to date with replenishments.)

I liked the options that Alltel had like free nights and weekends. However this went bye bye when they were purchased by Verizon. I would suggest that you just purchase Verizon phone, if you want to go the Alltel route.

If you plan on using your phone a lot, even for talk and text, you might want to check out Verizon's $50 prepaid plan or some other companies. Overall, it's better than Tracfone and Straight Talk, in my experience.)
