Another thought: Are the batteries on the Tracfone LG420G and LG440G interchangeable? They seem to be the same physical size. Both are 3.7v The LG440G is 950mAh. The LG420G is 900mAh

I think my LG420 battery is starting to lose its sustaining charge. I seem to be charging it more frequently, though I do not use it that much. I used to get 10-12 days out of it before recharging.

I'm finding it very difficult to find a replacement battery for the LG420, and circumstances are preventing me from buying online.

You're welcome. The batteries do look identical, and both the voltages and the polarities are the same. The difference in capacity is minor.

I was going to write that you're probably okay with switching them, and then I thought, "I have these two phones, and they're both inactive, so there's no harm in testing them myself."

I switched out the LGIP-430A battery and put the LGIP-531A battery from the 440g into the 420g. The latter started up and worked just fine (for the few minutes that I tested it).

So there you have it.

Voltage is the key. Voltage is like water pressure in a pipe. The voltage pushes the current (amps) through the device. The device will draw as much current as it needs. As long as the mah of the battery is at least as much as the device needs, there should be no problems. Having a higher mah rating just makes the device work longer between charges. The charger is another story. You should check for overheating. If you are not using the phone you robbed the battery from, you might use that phone and charger as a battery charger only and transfer to your active phone after charging.

They're probably trying to protect themselves from liability. While, switching out a battery with a more powerful one could theoretically cause bad things to happen, in this case it's probably okay.

The batteries have the same voltage and only a slight (5%) difference in capacity.

Thanks for the info on the batteries being interchangeable. Another source happened to find my question, and first told me that it is recommended to switch to a higher capacity battery because it will hold the charge longer. Then they amended their answer to:(and I quote)"It is NOT recommended to change battery, if any mistake happened it may burst or damage your phone because charging time, circuit range, etc., differ".
Does this answer make sense to you?
I tried to put the 440 battery into the 420 and had trouble trying to put back the cover, so at this point I'm not going to force it.
