I-wireless (Kroger) phone issues

by Greg
(Midwest)

I live in the Midwest and have found the Kroger phone's service area to be a bit limited. For example, I can call Houston, MO from Springfield, MO no problem. I cannot however call Springfield, MO from Houston, MO (Houston is
about 80 miles more or less due East of Springfield).

I have also found that the signal strength of the Kroger phone occasionally is sub-par, but only rarely.

I would also like to point out that Tracfone now offers Free Double (now Triple) Minutes on certain of their phone models. Factoring that into the per-minute charge, they are cheaper than the Kroger phone on a pay-go basis. (16 cents vs 20 cents/minute).

Texting is still cheaper on the Kroger phone though.

The particular handset I have is a ZTE phone, which you do not list as an available model.

Worse service and Coolpad arise
by: Anonymous

I bought a Coolpad arise and an unlimited talk/text. This is the worst phone ever! It turns off sporadically. The service is almost non-existant. The charger port is already having issues so phone isn't charging. And being that it's 16 days, I cannot get a refund or exchange the phone. Warning... Iwireless is a rip off!!

kroger i wireless BUYER BEWARE COOLPAD ARISE
by: Anonymous

I have no problem regarding the cost of the phone or the service I was able to use while it worked.

what I have issue with is the poor quality of the phone; I have been having two issues with my cool pad arise. However as I have had this phone for nearly two months and the problem did not show up until two weeks ag0, bottom line; they only will replace the phone if it is within 14 days of purchase.

this is not a fair time to appraise the phone mechanically or service wise. I do not recommend this phone because of the quality of the phone and the poor customer service replacement policy. PROCEED WITH CAUTION WITH THE COOLPAD ARISE

I-wireless vs. Tracfone
by: Burt

To Greg,
I have had I-wireless for several years and their reception here in the West(colo.,NM.,UT.,NV. etc.) is very limited and non-existant in Wyoming. I-wireless (Sprint) has no cell towers in WY.
My wife and I have been using Tracfone for quite a while now and have great reception almost everywhere we go including Wyoming.
We are using the LG420g with double minutes for life and it's been a good deal so far.

bad connections

Sporadically, when i try calling my parents cell or home phone, which is less than a few miles away, I get the 'roamin charges may apply' and I click on OK and then it says I don't have enough money on my pre-paid card. I have to repeat this process 3 or more times before the call will go through. Frustrating. Luckily, so far I have not had to call during an emergency.
