Organizing contact list into groups

How do I place a contact into a group without having it also appear in the all-inclusive "contact list"?

When I move one of the contacts into a specific group, that contact remains listed in the original "contact list". When I delete the contact from the "contact list", it is also deleted from the "group" listing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Thomas,

You're not doing anything wrong, but I don't think groups work like folders. They're more like labels.

How do you assign a telephone number to a group?

I have this phone, with double minutes. I bought direct from Tracfone, with free shipping for 19.99, plus tax. I loaded it with a one-year, 400 minute card with 200 bonus minutes, which resulted in more than 1,000 minutes. That's less than 10 cents a minute, which I think is the lowest per minute charge anywhere.

I can confirm that having the alarm on does drain the battery quicker. I quit leaving the alarm on all day and night, and got longer battery life. Thanks for the tip on turning the phone off and on again to reset the backlight-duration feature, which does seem to stick in the on position.

I figured out how to create a new group - Pests, for annoying callers I don't want to hear from. What I can't figure out is how to assign a received call phone number or a contact to a particular group. I know it has to exist, otherwise groups would be useless.

Can anyone help?
