Problems and Customer Support

by Howie

I have a LG VX5500. Rather nice phone to use, and I like it. My problem has been with the Corp Store sale people in Holland, MI out right lying about the costs of usage and refill.

My calls to customer service have been a charge to my account as well as after 5 calls, still no solution to a *86 problem. Went back to Corp Store, spoke with a Rep., at last got Std Voice mail setup (*86). I asked if I got a refund for all the calls to customer service that didn't do the job. Quote, unquote: Your SOL, you dialed the number, you pay the bill. Ok, I can live with that.

Now I asked if I added another $50 to my account would my account extend to a year as I had at that time $58 in the account, he said yes, I added the funds, received a text message and the account was extended two days. I again called customer service, I took it up the butt again. Customer service ranks right up there with Net 10 customer service, very sorry bunch of people.

The only silver lining to this event is the fact, I found answers to my signal strength problems on the Verizon customer forum which the Corp Store had said there's no solution to the signal strength. Bunk, I found the solution and gained 2 to 3 more bars of service.

Now the Corp store says I would of had no problems if I would have gone 2 year contract and a more expensive phone. Their view being that Prepaid customers are second rate citizens.

SO!! Buyer beware. Verizon is not the best choice for a prepaid service, expensive, no customer support and the Stores don't hold up their end of the deal. To deal with them is like having a green card from another country. You're a second rate customer.

Signal strength problem
by: Howie

Just a plain old *228, push send, listen to opt's., take opt. 2 and let the program update and reboot the phone. Took 3 minutes, cost me nothing on my account. It updates the PRL(preferred roaming list, if I remember right) on the phone to the latest towers added. The way Verizon is updating it's equipment in the field at such a fast pace. It was told to do this about every 3 months or so. Sure worked for me. Why the Jack at the Verizon store didn't know this is beyond me. Could be the fact that he's wearing a suit and paided mim. wage. Like $7 a hour is a real motivator for good informed service. My LG VX5500 is a great phone, now that it gets a clear signal. Account problem hasn't changed one bit.
