Directions say go to browser then to my sites, but all it says is server not found. So I can't check my balance. Also, there is no way to add minutes from no contract basic phone card. What good is this phone if you can't check your minutes or buy airtime? I think this is because Tracfone wants you to sign up for auto refill, and when you call customer service you get some foreign person and can't understand what they're saying. SUCKS.

What's up with Tracfone?

This whole Tracfone ordeal is maddening and there should be a law suit filed against them. I've been with Tracfone for 5 years and never had a problem until several months ago when my minutes disappeared and paid service was terminated. Trafone claimed I was with Safelink...Never! Oddly enough, they restored service temporarily and for some unknown reason changed my number. Again, unable to buy airtime.

My wifes sisters phone had that prepaid service disabled message on home screen and would not work. the cust service rep led me through about 45 min of entering codes in code entry and then it reset and she got her service back. Unless you have inst from customer service the code entry mode should be avoided

I got messages from TracFone to reactivate my home service for my phone,I tried clicking on them but it won't let me read them,Everytime I click it says "Prepaid Service Disabled!" I tried fixing it but it is still disabled from my home service,Can anyone explain how to fix this problem? !y phone is a small LG phone by TracFone.

Next find phone serial number press center of navigation button but they should give you instructions how to find it it's varies for various phones then follow the instructions that my 6 yr old can follow

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO FIX PREPAID SERVICE DISABLED PROBLEM!!!

If your phone says its prepaid service is disabled then FOLLOW THESE STEPS :

1) Go to http://www.tracfone.com/case_select_action.jsp?task=tech_support

2) Enter your phones serial # that can be found in the prepaid section on your phone and then click continue!!!

3) Scroll down until you see the 6th option - Prepaid Disabled/Unit Disabled - Click the CONTINUE button that is to the right!!!

4) You will be told - "Our records indicate that we need to program an update in your TRACFONE. You will need to enter codes into your TRACFONE for this update." - There will be a Cancel and Continue button below this statement. Click CONTINUE!!!

5) Follow the "IMPORTANT STEP!" that is provided to you on this page and YOUR PHONE WILL BE FIXED!!!

6) DO NOT MESS WITH CODE ENTRY MODE ANYMORE OR AFTER YOU FOLLOW THESE STEPS IN THE LINK TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!

My experience with code entry mode

I recently received an LG 328BG phone for free through the lifeline program. It was defective so I called customer service. They were not going to give me a different phone (after sitting through countless minutes of the CSR saying please hold while I research this) [meaning she had to read a manual for everything I asked her] when she finally decided to give me a different phone. She asked me to go to code entry mode and put in the following: *# [ENT] the number 8 was displayed. Then she had me input: *#30 [ENT] which gave me the numbers 637176931. She never said what they meant but considering our phone call and the way it went I figured it gave her information that applied to the defectiveness (or not according to her) of my phone. She is going to send a different phone. I would love to see a chart showing what all the codes mean.

Simply put, Code Entry Mode is used when inputting the three digit number after purchasing one of the prepaid cards from the service provider associated with the phone(s) in question; i.e.Net10. Once purchased and activation is achieved. Sratch off the coating that was lining the strip on the back(pre-paid card.) Revealing what was before, the occulted 10 digit number. The purchaser's integers are then input into the "Add Airtime/'Prepaid'" folder enclosed within the menu. In turn, attaining the three digit number.

No one has yet answered " What is code entry mode?"

Seems like you are just answering questions that are not being asked.

I wish I had an answer for you but I also don't fully understand the concept of it. I believe it is a way to do .... "Stuff" to your phone without taking it to tracfone, so you can call them, and they give you a code to enter to complete various tasks. That is what I've been able to gather from this half-assed information.

Wish I had more info for ya, but I hope that gives you the general idea.

It is a shame that so-called "answers" to inquiries are put in language that presupposes certain understandings of the device a person now owns but cannot get to perform. I do not believe that it is impossible for someone to give a clear, step-by-step formula to resolve a problem. I recently received a Samsung R455c for which I am unable to obtain a phone number. This should not be such an arcane science that only "initiates" can fathom. A plain-English explanation would be appreciated. Does Tracfone enjoy having so many units returned? I wish I would have checked out the forums before ordering this phone directly from Tracfone. I had a simple Tracfone before but was late in renewing airtime and it is inactivated. I thought I would move up to a nicer phone, with the triple minutes for life, etc., but am only met with frustration. Where is someone with a clear explanation as to how to resolve customer problems. Outsourcing help to people who have to check a manual for an answer, causing delays that put off customers would seem conter-productive. Well, I have had my say. It doesn't help my individual problem, but is there anyone who does not understand what I have written? Please take time to proofread what you enter on a forum so others have some chance of understanding what you are trying to convey! Don't assume others know technical features of a new device for which they received inadequate instructions. They only are good teachers who can assume ignorance on the part of their pupil(s) and calmly work to create understanding.

You have to call the Representatives at 1-877-836-2368 during work hours (8 am - 10 pm, time is different on te weekends). Tell them you were messing with the code entry mode and they'll reactivate it for you. Don't mess with the code entry mode. I wish they would have put that somewhere -_____________________-

Di you can try reactivating by going to:

https://www.tracfone.com/direct/init_activation.jsp

and choosing the first option to activate Tracfone with a new number.

You will also need to purchase an airtime card or PIN as you don't get any free minutes for reactivating your phone.

Reactivate Your Cell

If for whatever reason your cell fails to make contact with the tower, try entering the following code: *22800 You'll hear a prompt with several options. Press the number for activate and wait. You'll receive a Thank You and then, your cell will reboot itself. Once its rebooted, you note you'll be in contact with the tower again. Hope this helps!!

Oops, I should have said that Code Entry Mode is a state on the phone where you can make your phone ready for activation and also program the number of minutes you have and the expiration date of those minutes.

You do this by entering a series of numerical codes while in Code Entry Mode. Of course, only Tracfone and their support representatives have access to the particular codes for your phone.

Code entry mode in "Prepaid" menu

Hi,

To find the Tracfone "Code Entry Mode" menu, you just go to the "Prepaid Menu" and scroll down to the bottom. It's usually right after the "Serial Number" option.

Once you're there, you have to follow the instructions to type in various number to complete your transfer.
