Unable to send pics to email addresses

by cell-a-holic

Hello, I'll start off by saying I like the capabilities of this phone. However there is one thing that is 'sticking in my craw'. I cannot send pictures to email addresses. I've called Net10 several times, and twice now they have said they have to 're-program' the phone.. And i should leave it on for 24-48 hours.

The strange thing is.. I have (2)t401g's, and the other one 'does' send pictures to email addresses. I don't understand it. I am in the midst of the '2nd' 24-48 hr. Period in which net10 is 'supposedly' re-programming this phone, we'll see what happens.

A few more comments on several other issues with this phone (that 'were' resolved.. (if you don't mind)lol !, 1st, like some other users, i was being charged 5 cents per text message instead of the 3 cents indicated. I called net10, they had me put in (5)series of code numbers, and that did the trick, i now am being charged the 3 cents per text message.

The last issue goes back to email, but this resolution has to do with sending 'text messages' to an email address..Not pictures. 'long story short'.. I write a message..Try to send it to an email address..Didn't work, phone displays 'email gateway'.. (advised by net10..Type in the numbers''500' for the 'gateway'), then press 'send', it worked !. Well, just wanted to 'add my 2 cents'..(3 cents for text now)lol !. Take care, have a good night !, Cell-a-holic.

Center Key acting up plus transferring pictures

by Harold Holguin
(Gretna Louisiana)

I got this phone and a case to clip it on my belt, every time I bend my waist for any reason the center key which is protuberant activates something on the phone, sometimes it even sends messages on its own. Yes I locked it but still does it.

I used the camera but cannot transfer pictures to my PC directly, I got the data cable but I need an additional software that Net 10 does not have and neither Samsung web site. Transferring pictures via Email works but it is expensive with net 10.

----------
Hi,

I didn't use a clip so I'm not familiar with the center key behavior. I did lock the phone so that it wouldn't do something similar in my pocket, and I don't think it has. Perhaps, when you're bending down, the unlock key also gets pressed? Don't know, just guessing.

Regarding the file transfer, I always transfer my photos to a computer via Bluetooth. It's fast and easy. You can mark multiple images, and transfer them one after another. I had to get a Bluetooth adapter for my laptop, but they're pretty inexpensive (as low as $1.64 when I last checked). Almost any one you choose should work, but, for the record, mine is an older Trendnet TBW-105UB.

Regards,
sb

feature help
by: Anonymous

Can someone tell me why some of the features on my phone are shaded and I can't select them such as the broadcast message and anything in send setting other than where the 121 goes? And can you set it to show if a txt was received by the person you sent it to.

121 vs. 500
by: E-mail mrauder

just a thought as to why its 121 and not 500 ....my st fone is on a T-mobil lines so the gateway is 500..some area's t-mobil doen't reach so they could be on Verizons system temporarly so therefore its a 121 adjustment.

Mine works fine despite . . .
by: sb (admin)

When I send a picture message to an email contact with my T401g, I get an "Unable to deliver due to invalid pdu content" message.

However the message itself works just fine.

I just tested it again with a pic I took recently with the phone of canoes in a circle at the Washington Convention Center in DC.

I'll add the pic above.

You might also want to check your spam folder as that is where my my picture messages used to go.

Same problem...
by: Anonymous

I've tried entering 500; it will say "sent successfully" but I'm not receiving the message in my email (as I'd sent it to myself as a test.)

Another poster suggested 121; tried that, got "sending failed."

Good Information
by: Stonesouls

OK, Very good information on this website. The T401g needs to have the email gateway inputed. 500 will do it and you will be able to send a text to a email address. I had no problem sending photos to a email address, but text was the problem. Overall, great phone and great deal, with a little email forwarding from a dedicated Gmail account, your can get your emails forwarded to your phone. 1000 texts, plus a 1000 minutes per month at $30, great deal.

[admin note: The 1000 minutes per month refers to the Straight Talk version of this phone.]

Re: Email Gateway for T401
by: Anonymous

Thank you!! I can't tell you how much time I spent on the Web and with Net10 trying to figure out what email gateway I needed to send text messages from my phone to my email address. I stumbled across your article, used '500' as the gateway, and ta-da! It worked! Thanks again.

t401g issue/fix
by: cell-a-holic

hello again, i previously expressed my views on the samsung t401g,including an 'irritating' issue with not being able to send picture messages to email addresses from this phone. i won't go into all the attempts &(time)that were put into resolving this problem,it would take too long. one thing i was instructed to do(while on the phone with net10),was to remove the battery & sim card. now here is where it gets kind of weird, i did remove the battery & sim, when i inserted them back in the phone minutes later, the phone displayed "insert sim", ahhhh ..'geez louise'!!.. i still dont know why this happened. anyway, now for the fix..(in my case anyway), net10 suggested i order a new sim card from them, which i did later that night on march 22nd @ 9;45pm.they said it would arrive in 3 to 5 days, i was pleasantly surprised when it arrived via 'fedex' on march 24th (about 10:45a.m.). i must mention .. i won this phone from 'ebay', the seller was located in 'kentucky',along with the original phone number assigned to this phone..(i dont know if that had anything 'in part' to do with the phone's picture messaging issue). anyway, i inserted the new sim card(the phone read "unregistered sim"),i called net10 to activate/register. they requested my zip code, and a new phone number was automatically assigned to the phone. i had 'hopeful' anticipitory excitement at this point,so a while after completing 'the tasks at hand'.. i was parked at my local mcdonalds.. from the phone,i attempted to send a photo of 'bart simpson' to my email, when i got home and checked, 'BART' WAS THERE !!. IT WORKED !, in addition, i am able to also access the 'browser' feature on the phone (which previously i could not do). well, so ends this tale enjoyment, confusion, frustration, and ultimately.. resolution. i've expressed my thoughts here,so i may possibly help others with the same (or similar issues)as i have gone through with the (samsung t401g). well, i'm gonna get back to 'all in the family', then 'sanford & son' on (tvland). To Everyone, have a good evening. take care, cell-a-holic

Thanks for your detailed comments
by: admin

Cell-a-holic,

Thanks for your detailed comments. I really appreciate. As for your problems, I have no idea why one works and the other doesn't.

However, I will say that the setting on my phone seem to differ from yours. When I go to Messages -> Management -> Messages Settings -> Text Messages -> Send Settings -> Email Gateway, my entry says "121" and not "500".

Let us know how this gets resolved.

Regards.
