LG 420G vs. 440G

by Richard Baratta

It seems the newer the phone, the less they give you. On the LG 420G the Battery talk time is 5 hours. Stand-by Time is 20 days. Compare that with the LG 440G and you'll see the LG420 is double that!

The quality of the speaker, I think, is much better on the LG 420G.

Text Messaging on the LG420 is 0.3 min, whereas on the LG440, they deduct at a rate of 0.5 or more.

2G phones will be obsolete in 2017
by: Anonymous

There is little point in going backwards...the lg420 and lg430 are 2G phones...AT&T is dropping their support for 2G and will be using that saved bandwidth for their 4G network...So if you are thinking ahead a little bit...make sure your phone is 3G...At some point...using that old phone "just ain't gonna work no more"...I'm pretty sure all phones sold on the tracfone website are 3G phones...Most gsm phones say 3G right on the box...

No slideshow the 430g.
by: sb

You're right, there is no slideshow on the 440g. In fact, I didn't even remember that there was one the earlier model. You really go the most out of its capabilities.

I took a look at the 430g, and I found that this feature still existed in that version. So if this feature is important to you, you may want to look for this model, perhaps on eBay or Amazon. This model has a larger screen and megapixel camera.

Picture viewing
by: Richard Baratta

On the LG420G there is function called "slide show", which shows all the pictures taken, one after the other, without the need to click on each picture and pressing 'OK' to view each one. The LG440G does not have this feature. You have to use the navigation key to highlight each pix you want to view and press "OK" key to view each one.
Is this feature hidden somewhere in the "options" or elsewhere?

Update on Alarm settings for the LG440G
by: Richard Baratta

When you set the time and go to "repeat" and click "list", you can enter the specific time(s) you want the alarm to ring. When I first tried this, I had to do this a few times before the phone acted the way it was supposed to. Now the time setting(s) are retained the way they're supposed to. Time setting(s) are retained in memory and on the screen.

Alarm Settings
by: Richard Baratta

On the LG420, I set the alarm for two different settings - 8AM and 10AM. When the alarm goes off, I press in the volume button to shut of the chime.
These times stay in memory and on the screen, and when I put the alarm on for the following day, all I have to do is go to "ALARM CLOCK", and press "ALARM ON".
On the LG440, I set the alarm the same way. I can shut the alarm off the same way but when I shut off the alarm by pressing in on the volume button, it wipes the setting off the screen and I assume, out of memory. So, now, every day I have to re-enter the time(s) for the following AM. Why is this happening?
Again, I say, the newer the phone, the less "good" stuff they give you. If I'm doing something wrong. or the phone is not working right - I need someone to let me know what's happening!! Thanks for any feedback.

Voice Mail
by: Richard Baratta

I went to my Voice Mail today (3/19/15), and I got NOTHING!!. And I know that people were trying to call me. I called Tracfone and they told me it was disconnected. Why, they couldn't say.
But they reconnected me, Tried everything including pressing "1", like I always did. Went thru the "Message" programs, etc. Wonder how many calls I missed. I've had other problems, which were fixed after a while. Never had a problem with the LG420G. Everything that came with it (as far as the manual stated) worked exactly as it supposed to. Do you think I made a mistake by buying the 440G??

Would like some feedback if you have time.

What happened to the space you used to have to enter your Email address?
